Joan Smalls Lands On Vogue Italia’s March 2012 Cover Looking a “Haute Mess”

in Fashion by
So I’m just going to say it: Joan Smalls is the shit. The Puerto Rican bombshell has just landed on the March 2012 cover of Vogue Italia, the first model of color (and the first Puerto Rican ever?) to appear on the cover since their famous “All Black Issue” back in 2008.

Kudos to Joan. Since blowing into the industry a few years back, she has snatched all sorts of accomplishments with ease. She has even crossed into the mainstream by landing on GQ‘s Lust List 2012.

Who was the last model of color to be so well received by such a wide audience?

I’ve said it before how she was going to be mega and now home girl has a cosmetic contract, walked for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and has a solo cover of Vogue Italia. It’s all because of me.

As you can see, they’ve titled this issue “#OVERTHETOP” and it is well deserved. Us fashion lovers have been treated to some over the top gif’s featuring Smalls, Karen Elson, Coco Rocha and more

The gif’s are pulled from an editorial titled “Haute Mess” shot by Steven Meisel. They are absolutely RIDICULOUS and I cannot wait to see the whole series in full! Meisel has definitely been churning out some incredibly quirky covers and editorials this year and I am feeling it. Doesn’t it all just make fashion appear fun? I mean…it totally is but you get my drift.
